Cases are being pre-adjucated, So there are RFEs and other inquiries...After this, they will wait for visa number in PD Queue....which is a good thing...This assures there will be no wastage this year....
Anycase, it looks like there will be significant forward movement...

Lofgren may have really good intentions to help several of us by introducing these 'sensible' administrative fixes but with meetings/discussions like these, they would get no where. Lofgren seems to be a very soft-spoken person and if she is the moderator (or even a mediator) in these discussions, there is just no way the train will stay on the track.
No wonder, the govtrack/thomas websites say, this is the first step in the process. They get discussed (or its lack of) and may get killed right away.
Besides just beating their own drum and saying ga-ga about their efficiency and sometimes throwing words like "we have opportunities" to improve, the discussion was a disaster.
On the other hand, it may be that most of them have already made their mind up as to what to do and this is just a charade. The discussion is a way to show their due diligence. The decision is obscure akin to the anything related to the process..

I was at SJ rally and it was an awesome feeling to participate and hear all the honks.

Thank you very much for your excellent coverage of this issue. Tens of thousands of legal immigrants were affected by this decision, and at least hundreds of dollars wasted by every applicant. The loss of opportunity because of this abrupt door-shutting act is of course much more, but we demand that at least these monetary damages are taken note of, and paid for. Ideally, the government agencies that slammed the door on us should accept our applications, and thereby keep the promise they made to us on June 13, 2007.

Why would it work against? After all, is H1-B is a dual intent visa...
Only lawyer or the employeer contact can call for labor status queries. DOL does not know you exist. Be careful there is no relation between labor and green card AOS. If you call it shows that you intend to immigrate while on H1. It might work against you.

hi i have come to the u.s. on a f2 visa and currently my spouse is doing her OPT.i applied for a driving licence in georgia and i was issued a learners permit based on my I94,visa and letter from social security office denying me a ssn.
i went to the same centre(decatur) for a road test and now they say that we cannot give you a licence because your visa says dependent for a student of wisconsin university,so you should go to wisconsin and get your licence.i went to another dmv centre and after verifying my docs. they let me take the road test and i cleared the test and they asked me to go to the counter to pay money , at that time the person in the counter again asked me for passpoert and i94 and he saw that university of wisconsin stuff on my visa and he said he will not issue a licence and i spoke to the supervisor and he says get a letter from INS ,i showed him my spouse opt card and showed him the words in the card which reads"eligible to work in u.s. upto ----").now he says that is your spouse opt card ,what autorisation do you have to stay in GA ?
has any one come across such a problem?is so kindly advice

As much as I appreciate the efforts that the IV core team has put in, them being so secretive, it is almost like they have formed a cabal.
I agree with ItIsNotFunny. The very least the IV core team can do is post updates on what they are up to. That way if someone believes in a particular initiative that IV is undertaking wants to help, they can contact the concerned IV core team member and offer to help.
I am sure instead of the core team trying to burden themselves with all the work, if they let individuals who believe in particular cause to help them, then life would be a lot easier for everyone. I guess that would also get more people involved with IV.
I know I am out of the rat race, so if you think I am being patronizing, my apologies.

I found one very detailed thread on Ron Gotcher's website. He mentioned that cancellation or revocation of I-140 doesn't automatically revokes EAD.

I would suggest to read this thread completely to anyone who is AOS candidate. Even if you are not thinking of changing your job, during current economy, anyone should be prepared to use AC21 if needed.
"An EAD remains valid until it expires or is explicitly revoked. Since most AOS denials flow from I-140 problems, an EAD card is not going to get revoked immediately. If nothing else, they have to wait until the interval for an I-140 appeal has lapsed - even if you don't appeal."
